Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. My name is Craig Whalen and I'm a work at home internet entrepreneur and home business coach.

Now, I'm no one extraordinary. I have no special business training beyond what I've learned in my internet business. I know you've heard it a thousand times, so a thousand and one won't hurt...if I can be successful with this, anyone can! You just have to have the right mindset and the determination to succeed.

Your mindset is what drives you to do whatever you do in your life (or conversely what keeps you from doing the things you want, could, or should do). Your mindset is so very important to your success, not only in your business, but in your whole life.

Your mindset is the set of beliefs and habits that you have that determine what actions you’ll take in every situation every day. If you’re a person who’s content to work a job every day and go home and drink beer and watch television every night with no desire to better your circumstances, you’ll probably never even see this…so I’m not talking to those content to be drones. I’m talking to YOU. You who have a burning desire inside of you to be better, achieve more, have more success in life than you’ve ever had or can even imagine. I don’t mean just financial success; I mean a successful LIFE. Financial success will be a by-product of your life’s success if you can get your mindset right.

However you acquired your current mindset, whether it was instilled by your parents or crafted by your circumstances or experiences, or if you’ve built a mindset by design, you can not escape how you view things and how you’ll react to them without purposeful action. If you’re constantly negative, always the pessimist, afraid to try new things and you want to change some of those attributes you have to purposefully change the way you think.

When I was just starting out as an internet entrepreneur, I had no clue what I was doing. I was overwhelmed with the amount of information to be learned and the sheer size of the learning curve ahead of me. But I jumped in head first. I started using some of the marketing methods that I was learning and saw little results. I began to get discouraged; began to doubt myself, asking if I’d made the right decision. "Who am I kidding? I’d better just go back to the j-o-b." But then I had an epiphany! A revelation, if you will. I realized that I had to change the way I was thinking if I was ever going to see any success.

I was reminded of my own past experiences. I’ve always been an over-comer. I’ve never shied away from a challenge and have always come out on top.

My first real job was at a t-shirt silkscreen shop. It was the industry of choice for me at the time. I loved to make things, work with my hands, and printing t-shirts was intriguing to me; but there were no jobs available in the town where I lived. I was in a college town and there were many print shops to choose from, but all of them said they had no openings…except one. One guy said “maybe”. I think he may have come to regret telling me maybe because I called him every day at the same time until he finally caved. I think he grew weary of the daily 3:00 call from me checking on that job, and I was hired to “clean up” every afternoon after school and was rewarded with the gratuitous wage of $4 an hour.

That company grew over the years that I worked there. It had become a giant in the industry, consistently earning annual sales of over $15 million…and through much hard work, learning, and having a mindset that wouldn’t allow me to settle for less, I eventually became the Operations Manager of that $15 million company! Me! With no college education or other professional business training…in charge of 150 employees and earning a very handsome salary as the Operations Manager of a very reputable, very profitable textile printing company.

I chose to leave the textile industry for reasons unimportant for this story, but have had many similar experiences in other areas as well, all due to the mindset I have that tells me that I can accomplish whatever I set out to accomplish.

In the years since working in the t-shirt business I became an I.T. professional at a national specialty health care company, once again, with no formal training. I like to work with computers and was determined to learn everything I could about them and was offered a salaried I.T. position at a nationwide organization with NO training.

I am also a step-dad to three great kids and guardian of a niece and two nephews. I have no biological children, so this has been one of the biggest challenges I’ve undertaken in my life but is, I’m happy to say, another area that my mindset has helped me conquer (don’t let me understate the difficulty of this one…it’s still a daily battle…but my wife and I are winning).

So why should I be intimidated by internet marketing? Because it was something new? Because it was outside my comfort zone? I simply had to check my mindset and remember the successes that I’ve already had in areas formerly unexplored, but now conquered and know that I would succeed. Would it be an overnight success? Absolutely not! But staying focused on goals and keeping the mindset in check were key to daily action and daily progress and not giving up.

Now please don’t misunderstand. I haven’t said any of this to pat myself on the back or give the impression that I’m somebody special, but merely to illustrate some of what’s possible if your mindset is right. I’m not any more extraordinary than you are. I’ve just developed a mindset and a work ethic that has allowed me to achieve extraordinary results.

You may not have examples so dramatic, but you do have successes that you can reflect on for inspiration. Maybe it’s learning to drive, or using the computer, or teaching yourself how to use your Tivo…all things that you, at one point, did not know how to do!

No victory is too small to draw inspiration from. It’s all in how you look at it, your mindset. If you can learn a new skill in any area, it’s a victory! Don’t cheat yourself out of the celebration. Every little victory has the ability to encourage you on to larger victories, so celebrate every one along the way. Press on with courage and know that success is attained or destroyed first in your mind.

The coolest thing about this online marketing stuff is the technology. Not only can you run a business online from the comfort of your own home…you can advertise using the free methods we’ve outlined over the past several days AND you can link those advertising methods together so that they can “talk” to each other and make posts for you so you’re not bogged down with manually updating every site you have set up.

14 Online Marketing Tips in 14 Days - Day 12 - Free Traffic Generators

Generating traffic to your website is the key to building your customer base and increasing your sales and conversions. If you have no one looking at your site you’ll have no customers, so generating traffic to your site is paramount to your success.

There are many online companies that specialize in traffic generation. Some are free, some require monthly membership, and some have per action fees. You can Google “free traffic” and research some of the top companies and sign up for any that you feel may work for you.

One company that I use is Viral URL. I like this one because for an annual fee of about $200 you can use the system to create and post banner ads and email ads, but the feature I like the most is that you can send 3,000 emails to random opt-in users every 3 days. 14 Online Marketing Tips in 14 Days - Day 11 - Balance

Today is Veterans Day and I want to take this time to reflect on the things that are most important in our lives.

First of all, I extend a gratuitous THANK YOU to all of the veterans who’ve served to secure and protect the freedom that so many have learned to take for granted. Without the sacrifices of so many brave Americans willing to protect the country they love and preserve our freedom, this country would very likely not enjoy the freedoms that we have today.

It’s saddening to me to see the state of our nation today knowing all of the sacrifices that have been made to make America the greatest country in the history of the earth. There is so much political divide, racial tension, class envy…so many negative things that affect our daily lives. I believe if you separate people into groups on the basis of politics or skin color or social class or religion or any other social grouping, you create great division.

Groups of people, associated for whatever reason, form ideologies unique to their group and enter into battle with other groups of people with different views which only creates more division. We have so much more in common with one another than we have differences. Groups of people are often self-serving, angry, and irrational and will make choices that are detrimental to many to serve the ideologies of their particular group. A person, on the other hand, unassociated with a divisive group is usually smart, rational, and most often has concern for people as a whole set before their own self interest.

Ask any one person what they want from life. Most will give the same answer. Most people just want to spend time with the ones they love and enjoy their lives to the fullest degree possible. Having money is nice; having fancy homes and cars and other luxuries is nice; but I think you’ll find that most people are more interested in having meaningful loving relationships with family and friends than they are in being rich. I don’t think that anyone on their death-bed would ask to be surrounded by all of the “stuff” they’ve accumulated throughout their life. People wanna be surrounded by friends and family; the ones they love.

On today’s subject – Balance – ask yourself this question: Why did you want to start a work from home business in the first place? Why go through the pains and the fear of leaving what you know to pursue a work from home business? I believe most of you would say “to have more time to spend with the people I love”. Sure, financial independence is part of that, but it’s only the means to the end…having free time to be with your family and friends. The point that I want to make today is to remember why you chose to start a home business. Make sure that you have balance in your life and don’t become so consumed with working your business that you neglect to spend time with the ones you love. This is especially important for those who may be just starting out and are still working a regular job and doing their online business nights and weekends. Make sure you schedule some time with your family and friends. After all, they are the reason you wanted to have a home business, right?

…and in regard to other people, social groups, battles of will and opinion…please remember that in most cases, any person regardless of their associations ultimately wants the same life and freedom and time with family that you do. Focus on our commonalities rather than our differences. Decreases social divides. Be kind to others, for everyone you meet is fighting some sort of battle.

Blogging is a more advanced method of free advertising for your business but has many benefits. Wikipedia defines a blog (a contraction of the term weblog) as a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video.

A blog is free to set up and easily customizable so you can change the look and feel to suit you and also add pictures, video, audio, links to your social network profiles or other sites…the possibilities for customization are far too great to list here and make for the perfect place to build an online presence and position yourself as an authority in your industry or niche.

Once you’re happy with the look and features of your blog it’s time to start adding content. You can use articles and press releases that you’ve written previously or write new content. Just be sure that you’re offering something of value to the reader. Many make the mistake of using their blog as one big commercial for their business, which is a huge turn off and, if you make the same mistake you won’t have much readership (if any). The most successful blogs are those that offer substantive content that teaches something valuable, shares interesting opinion, or tells a great story. This is where you get to be creative and let your personality show through. People are more likely to do business with someone that they know, like, and trust. Your blog is the ideal place for your customers to get to know you.
Have fun with your blog and be yourself. Keep it professional, but not sterile and stuffy. You want to be able to attract readers while offering something of value and, ultimately, turning readers into loyal customers.

Video is arguably the most powerful marketing tool available today. Over 30 billion videos are viewed online every month (yes BILLION). That constitutes almost 60% of all internet traffic!

You can generate an enormous amount of free traffic to your website with a well-written video marketing launch.

Be sure that your videos address a specific need or question regarding your business and make sure that you offer a solution and a call to action, whether it’s to visit your website or to call you directly, whatever works for your business. Make sure that your videos use targeted keywords that are specific to your business. What keywords will your customers search to find your business? Be specific but not too generic. If you sell tires and you use the keyword “tires” you’ll see hundreds of millions of results on a web search and will never get page one ranking. Maybe a good keyword would be “tires for sale in Dayton, Ohio” or wherever your business calls home.

Distribute your videos to video hosting sites (You Tube, Daily Motion, etc). Do a Google search for more video sites that you can join and submit to. Make several videos each week and continue to submit them. A great aspect of video marketing is that, once they’re uploaded, they’re out there forever and will continue to bring traffic to your site.

Remember to be professional and not overly hyped or fake. Don’t act like “Crazy Bob” down at the used car lot. Offer education and value specific to your business and you’ll be sure to generate quality traffic to your website.

Be sure to share your video posts on your social network sites (Twitter, Facebook, etc) so that all of your friends and followers can see what you’re up to. More exposure can only lead to more traffic. Just be yourself and have fun.

Press Releases are, yet another free or low cost way to establish yourself as an expert in your industry. A press release is a news story about you and/or your business submitted to online press release websites who, in turn, will distribute your release over the internet.

The steps to writing and submitting a press release are similar to those used to write and submit articles. You choose a topic, write your press release, and distribute to press release websites (again, do a Google search to find the top sites with which to submit). Also remember to make your writing rich with relevant keywords because, like articles, press releases can show up in search engine results.

The content of a press release, however, is vastly different from an article. An article is usually where you share interesting information, tips and tricks, or opinion. A press release, on the other hand, is a “news” story and must be centered around something that is newsworthy (such as the start of your new business or the launch of a new website). If you submit something that is more suited to be an article, your press release will be turned down for submission.

Anyone searching the web for your targeted keywords is already looking for your business. They’re just in research mode…and a well-written press release about your business gives you credibility over your competition.

14 Online Marketing Tips in 14 Days - Day 6 - Article Marketing

Writing articles and submitting them online is another great free, or low cost, way to direct traffic to your website or business opportunity. Writing articles about your specific niche establishes you as an authority in your area of expertise and positions you as someone worth listening to.

Choose a topic to write about that is related to your business. Write your article and proofread it. Be sure to include keywords within your article title and body that are relevant to your subject because articles can show up in search engine results. Submit your article to several online article submission sites. You can Google “article submission” and find many sites where you can post your articles. There are many free sites as well as paid sites. Paid article submission sites will distribute your article more widely that a free site.

Some things to remember: Your article should be addressing a problem or concern that your reader is facing. Describe the problem and offer a solution. Don’t write a 500 word sales pitch or you’ll find that no one will be reading your articles. If you’re offering how-to advice, don’t be afraid to divulge your secrets. This will only make you more credible as an expert in your field.

14 Online Marketing Tips in 14 days - Day 5 - Writing Compelling Ads

The determining factor in whether someone will respond to, or even read your advertisements is how well they are written. You’ve got to have copy that is compelling the reader to, first, want to read your advertisement and, second, respond with some kind of action, whether it’s to buy your product or visit your website or whatever your ad is asking of them.

Your title has to be strong enough and interesting enough to grab the reader’s attention to make them want to read further. Avoid using all caps and avoid asking questions (WANT TO MAKE MILLIONS ONLINE?) That kind of title looks unprofessional and will not distinguish you from the crowd.

Once you have a captivating title, you’ve got to have an ad that speaks to the reader’s desires or needs, and then gives them a call to action. A call to action, depending on what you’re advertising, could be “call me for more details” or “visit my website” (make sure to include your contact info and/or website).

Many free classifieds sites will also allow you to upload pictures to display with your ads. Using pictures can be a great way to grab the reader’s attention too, but be careful to use pictures that are relevant to your product or service and make sure you use professional looking quality images. You can do a Google search for free photos and find some good download sites for free pictures to use in your ads.

If your title compels the reader to click on your ad and your copy speaks to a specific need or desire and then gives a call to action you’ll see much more traffic from your classified ads.

14 Online Marketing Tips in 14 Days – Day 4 – Free Classifieds

Free classified ads don’t need a great deal of explanation. They’re free classified ads. There are thousands of free classified sites on the internet, so the amount of ads you place online is limited only by your effort. Do a Google search for free classifieds and choose a few top ranking sites with which to place your ads.

The steps are virtually the same for each ad submission site. Set up a user account; choose a state/city in which to place your ad; post your ad, repeat.

Many free classified sites do not allow posting the same ad across different cities, so be careful to change your ad title and change up the text a little with each new submission. If you don’t, you risk having your account deleted.

Posting classified ads can be very labor intensive, but it’s hard to beat the return on investment, since you haven’t spent a dime!

You probably already have an account on a social media site. These are sites like Facebook and Twitter. If you don’t I’m certain you know someone who does. These sites are designed for people to update their “friends” or “followers” on what they’re doing. You can connect with people you already know, find long lost friends, or meet new ones.

Since the design of these sites is to update others on what you’re doing they’re also good places to let people know about your business. Just make sure you’re not “spammy”, meaning don’t flood people with your sales pitch. Be yourself. Use the sight to check in with friends and family and just tell people what you’re into. This helps new friends see you as a real person that they can relate to and not just another spammer out to make a quick buck.

Social Media sites also have groups that you can join based on similar interests with other memebers. Groups are a great way to meet new people and share your opinions, ideas, and your business…but remember, don’t be spammy. You don’t want to join a new group and start pitching your “hot new million-dollar business opportunity”. That will guarantee that no one will want to be your friend and probably get you kicked out of the group.

If you don’t have an account on a social media site, go check one out. I use Facebook, Twitter, and My Space. There are MANY more sites out there but these are currently the most visited. Setting up an account is free and easy and can generate many contacts and leads for your business. Just remember to be yourself.

I Want to Work From Home but Don’t Know where to Start?!?!?!

Internet marketing can be really fun and VERY lucrative, but you’ve got to have the right formula…just the right ingredients combined in the right measure, to be successful.

Internet marketing is nothing more than getting your product or service in front of people using the power of the internet and enticing them to want to do business with YOU. I don't intend to ober simplify the process...it IS hard work, but it is also fun and rewarding if you have a product or opportunity that excites you and that you belive in and IF you're properly trained.

But what if you don’t have anything to market? Maybe you want to work from home and you’ve been looking for the right work from home business to suit you and you’re overwhelmed with all the garbage that’s out there and you don’t know which (if any) are legitimate and right for you. Well, there are a lot of scams on the internet designed only to take your money…but there are legitimate work from home businesses, too. You just have to find one that’s right for you.

That’s the million dollar question, isn’t it: “which one is right for me?” There are many legitimate opportunities to make real money on the internet; but how do you avoid the scams? There’s no fool-proof method, and many have fallen prey to online predators (myself included) but here are a few things to look out for to help you avoid the pitfalls:

1. Take a “gut-check” of the content of the website you’re reviewing. Each one of as human beings is endued with a certain level of discernment. Use your best judgment. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

2. If the content of the site is overly-flashy and has pictures of million-dollar homes and Ferraris and makes grandiose income promises, but lacks content, take heed. Beware of the Armani/Rolex parade.

3. Most work from home sites will offer you a “teaser” page -a sneak preview, if you will- to get you interested, then require your email address for you to get more information. This is common practice and, as it happens, a necessary step. BUT, be careful to give the site a good “gut check” before giving your information. Many sites will sell your email address to a list service which can result in hundreds of unsolicited emails to your inbox. Look for a privacy disclaimer before entering your information. If you don’t find one or if it does not explicitly say that they will not sell your information, be wary.

4. Look for a site that promotes a purpose higher than itself. Getting rich for the sake of getting rich isn’t enough. A legitimate online business should have your success at its heart. Your success should mean their success.

5. Look for credibility in the people that are promoting the opportunity. Do your research. Look for items in the news about the person or opportunity. Google their name and check them out. You may find that you’re taking advice from someone who’s never achieved the results that they are promising that you can produce.

6. Beware of negativity in advertising. In researching online opportunities I’ve found that for every opportunity you come across, there’s a website or article saying negative things about that opportunity only to offer you another. Search that one and you’ll find a negative article about it only to promote another. It’s a vicious cycle and you’ll find yourself discouraged at the thought of trying any online business. Look for a business with integrity. If someone has to disparage another business to promote their own, stay away.

7. Don’t fall for any offer that tells you that you can earn millions with little or no effort. There is NO GET RICH QUICK. There are many online business opportunities, but the legitimate ones are what they claim to be…business. Any business owner will tell you that it takes hard work to succeed and online business is no different.

Be diligent. Do your homework. Leverage the experience of those who have gone before you and been burned by the scammers.

TEAM - Together Everyone Achieves More

Don’t underestimate the importance of being a part of a team. We as human beings are designed as relational beings. We’re not meant to go through this life on our own; and in every area of our lives we’ll find ourselves thinking, acting, and living like those we choose to surround ourselves with.

In every area of life, we need to make sure that we surround ourselves with people who are going where we want to go. Whether it’s in your family, in your business or your job, in your social relationships, or in your spiritual life, you need to be teamed up with like-minded people who are going in the same direction that you want to go. If you’re constantly associating and relating with people who are negative, you’ll become negative. If you’re surrounding yourself with those who complain about the way things are, the economy, their circumstances, their rotten boss, etc…you’ll find yourself complaining about everything, too.

On the other hand, if you have a mind to continually look for ways to improve yourself, your home life, your career, your spiritual life, your business, and you surround yourselves with like-minded motivated people who also are actively improving their circumstances, you’ll find yourself encouraged and motivated to reach your potential as well.

Look to the goose for direction.

Geese, as most of you know, are migratory birds. They fly north during the summer months and fly south to escape the cold in winter months. They fly for thousands of miles each season and, without being part of a team that’s all headed in the same direction, they’d never be able to make the journey alone. I’m sure you’ve seen a flock of geese in flight. They travel in that V-formation with one leader out in front and the rest of the flock following in formation behind. The reason for this formation is that the flapping of the wings of each bird causes an updraft that helps the bird behind fly with less effort. It’s like drafting behind a semi on the interstate to save gas or a racecar driver using the draft from the car ahead to effortlessly slingshot past. When the lead bird gets tired he falls to the back of the flock so that he may regain his strength and another, more rested, goose takes his place at the head of the formation. Sharing the workload in a combined effort helps the flock to travel hundreds of miles without stopping. Additionally, if one of the geese is sick or injured and drops out of the formation, two healthy geese accompany the injured bird to the ground to aid in his recovery and keep him safe. Now that’s a model of teamwork we all need to embrace.

Striving for Excellence

Excellence…it’s a concept that seems to have escaped much of the modern world. We live in a culture where “good enough” will get you by, and many believe that “good enough” is worthy of some reward. The idea that you should always do your best in everything you do has become a rare quality in this present age, and for many is merely a quaint memory of the way the world once was. Of course, no one is perfect, but the idea of pursuing excellence should be paramount in our daily lives. Pursuing excellence gives oneself pride in whatever they accomplish because they know that they’ve put forth their best effort. That’s a pride that might otherwise be unknown. The pursuit of excellence also pushes people to accomplish things that they may have thought impossible, but the desire to continually grow and the push to be better stretches them to attain to things they may have believed unattainable. Unfortunately, our self-serving society has created a generation of mediocre citizens content to live their lives as “good enough”.

“Good enough” has never produced anything worth having. “Good enough” doesn’t get you that raise you think you deserve. “Good enough” will keep you in your current state as long as you think “good enough” is “good enough”. “Good enough” is likely to blame for many of the hardships that our world is enduring today because of the examples set for the children of those who live lives by doing just enough to get by. Each generation is being taught to believe that any effort, however little it may be, is “good enough” (I’m really beginning to hate that phrase) and “good enough” becomes less and less with each passing generation.

For me, “good enough” simply isn’t! I attribute my desire to pursue excellence and always put forth my best effort to my dad. When I was growing up my dad had a lot of stories (as I’m sure most dads do). You know the stories…awake at 3am to work, and then off to school, only to go back to work after school…the torturous stories you’ve heard so many times you could say them right along with him (though you didn’t dare). In all of his stories (there actually weren’t many, but a few that kept getting recycled) there was always a recurring theme of hard work, diligence and a work ethic that taught you to be the best in anything you do. He would say “I don’t care if you’re a ditch-digger. You be the best damn ditch-digger they’ve ever seen!” That one thought has stayed with me through the years and has been a cornerstone of my personal and my professional life. Applying that concept to any and every endeavor has made life pretty easy. Of course life has its’ share of difficulties to throw at you, but remember the old adage “life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you handle it”. There will always be another challenge right around the corner, so prepare the way with excellence. Handle every situation with excellence. Run your business or work your job with excellence. Teach your kids excellence. Strive for excellence in ALL that you do and you will be amazed at the results.

I've finally discovered a legitimate way to have Success Working From Home

For as long as I can remember I've wanted to own my own successful business. I've always been drawn to the allure of being my own boss and having freedom from someone else's schedule...being able to set my own hours, my own goals, and have financial independence.

I've owned several businesses over the years on my journey toward success and freedom but, sad to say, none had really been very successful. It wasn't for a lack of effort (I don't think), but I believe that in all the businesses I'd owned I hadn't hit on one that inspired passion and creativity in me. I really needed something in which I could use my strengths and creativity and not just a business that seemed like it could make money. Without something that I was passionate about I was doomed to failure. I couldn't find anything in a "traditional" business that sparked a passion that would drive me to succeed.

Then came the internet! Now here's something exciting! I love to work on computers and with the Internet you can own a business and work it from home in your underwear (I mean, if you're into that). How exciting to be able to run a business from home and be there with your family and not have to worry about all of the headaches, overhead, employees, and other junk required to own a "real" business.

But what kind of business could I work on the internet? Hmmmmmm? Multi Level Marketing! That's it! My ticket out. Now all I've gotta do is spend a small fortune on a product that I don't even use and make a list of friends and family that I want to alienate with my tired old sales pitch. Perfect!

I sunk a bunch of money into one MLM opportunity after another, all the while wearing out my "leads" (friends and family) with my "new million-dollar product or service" or cold-calling prospects and trying to sell them during dinner or primetime tv (yikes). I did online reminder services, super fruit juices, legal insurance...you name it, I probably lost money with it. The problem was, although what I had may have actually been a good product, I never received the training that I needed to succeed and there was never a proven system in place that would help me move a "lead" to a sale.

After spending many years and many thousands of dollars on MLM and pyramid schemes I'd all but given up on any kind of internet business. I slunk back to corporate America and shackled myself up to the J-O-B.

That was okay...for a short time. Then I could feel it; I'm sure you've felt it too; the entrepreneurial spirit inside was getting restless. Every day the commute was harder to endure. Then the office, and the coworkers, and the BOSS! AAAARRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!! I had to get out!! But get out to where?!?!?!?! I'd sworn off multi-level marketing, but what else was there??

Simply Loving Life!!! More About Me...

My name is Craig Whalen, and I’d like to share with you how my life has changed through the years, both personally and professionally. Dramatic changes. Not changes thrust upon me, but changes that could have only taken place by me changing the way I think.

Years ago, I was a person who thought he was happy; thought he was free, because I was single, I could do what I wanted when I wanted. I had no obligations other than my job. But, I think that I was like so many millions of people who give the outward appearance of happiness and freedom but inside feel like something really big is missing. You have an overwhelming feeling that there should be something so much bigger to life, but have no idea what it is or even how to find out.

I spent most of my twenties partying and livin it up, giving the façade of freedom and happiness but in reality I was lost and lonely and scared that my life would never have any meaning. I believe all the partying and crazy things that I did were actually a misguided search for something more; something better (of course I was looking in the wrong places).

Then I met Teresia, the woman who would later become my wife. She was strikingly attractive (and still is) and is one of the most loving and caring people I’ve ever met. She has a love and compassion for people that, until I met her, I’d only seen in movies (I was hanging out with the wrong people). The night we met we were at a party but the two of us talked all night and it seemed as though we were the only two people in the room. Teresia and I had an immediate connection that I thought only possible in stories.

As we talked that night she told me, seemingly as a warning, that she had three kids, but I was so enamored with her and the indescribable “connection” we had that the thought of her having children didn’t bother me. My “friends” told me to run away; said “you don’t want that kinda hassle”. But I had an inexplicable peace that I’d never felt before. Even the thought of having three kids “thrown” into my life didn’t bother me at all. I was actually kind of excited at the chance to “give back” to some kids that had a tough life so far.

Many (probably most) people would have seen the kids as a burden that they weren’t willing to deal with. They would turn down a chance at love and happiness with a beautiful, caring woman because they don’t want to be inconvenienced with a bunch of kids. But I had spent so long looking for meaning in meaningless places that I saw these kids as an opportunity for me to share myself, show love, and teach them things they may not otherwise have a chance to learn. I was changing the way I think because, let’s face it, what I’d known had only gotten me lonely and miserable. I chose to see a challenge and the beginning of an exciting adventure rather than a burden that I’d put up with for the sake of Teresia.

I now have a beautiful wife, and six great kids (yes 6), and it's ALL because I didn't say no when life presented me with out-of-the-ordinary circumstances. I still have no biological children of my own. I married my beautiful wife, Teresia, who had three kids when I met her and because I didn't run from what most people would see as a burden I now have a great marriage and kids who I get to pour into and love and teach that I wouldn't otherwise have.

But I said six kids, didn't I? We also have two nephews and a niece that live with us now who have come to us through tragedies in their own homes and had nowhere to go. They could have been stuck in a place where they weren't wanted or even sent to some kind of group home...but we put their needs first; we said YES and now have three more opportunities to show love, and to teach, and to enjoy...and now these kids have a place to call home and a family and a place to be loved.

Even other members of our own family say we're crazy, but they just can't appreciate the long-term rewards that come from saying yes to today's "little inconveniences". Sure, having this kind of mixed up group, all with different stories, different schedules, different personalities, can be stressful at times. But the rewards far outweigh the stresses.

I think that if more people were more willing to take life as it comes, put others first, and not be so resigned to their own selfish ways, we'd have a lot more happy people on this planet. So many people satisfy their selfish desires and think that they're happy, but what they don't realize is that helping others and putting others before themselves is a key to real happiness.

I believe if you put others first - and you approach every opportunity willingly and with an open heart and open mind - you'd be AMAZED at the life you could have. Don't be so quick to reject an idea just because it's outside your comfort zone. Don't settle for a mediocre existence because you've always said, and continue to say, NO to things that have the potential to disrupt YOUR plans or, God forbid, maybe make you miss your favorite TV show. Get off the couch and start to experience the adventures that life has for you! Say YES. Enjoy the ride. You may never know some of the great things that await you because you don't say yes.

I've applied this mindset to career, too. And things are going great. I spent twenty years "working for the man", climbing the corporate ladder, chasing the dream...whatever you wanna call it...only to find myself just as unsuccessful and unfulfilled as when I started. Until I said YES to something better. Outside my comfort zone? You bet! New and scary? Oh yeah! But the most rewarding and exciting thing I've ever done! (not counting the crazy family adventure you've already read about).

I found a work-from-home business that truly is unique and rewards you FOR LIFE. I know...if you've read this far you probably just said "this is just another sales pitch", but you couldn't be more wrong. I'm not trying to "sell" anything. I’ve tried sales…I stink at sales. If I had to sell to live I’d be dead!

Ask any one person what they want from life. Most will give the same answer. Most people just want to spend time with the ones they love and enjoy their lives to the fullest degree possible. Having money is nice; having fancy homes and cars and other luxuries is nice; but I think you'll find that most people are more interested in having meaningful loving relationships with family and friends than they are in being rich. I don't think that anyone on their death-bed would ask to be surrounded by all of the "stuff" they've accumulated throughout their life. People wanna be surrounded by friends and family; the ones they love.
